  De onderhandelingen over Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) zijn afgerond en het verdrag staat open ter ondertekening. Dat schrijven minister Verhagen van Economische Zaken, Landbouw en Innovatie (EL&I) en staatssecretaris Teeven van Veiligheid en Justitie (V&J) aan de Tweede Kamer.
  In de brief lichten de bewindspersonen het doel, het verloop van de onderhandelingen en de inhoud van ACTA toe. Ook wordt verslag gedaan van de internetconsultatie die over het ontwerp-verdrag gehouden is

  Minister Verhagen en Eurocommissaris De Gucht staan lijnrecht tegenover elkaar wat betreft de vraag of de Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) bindend is. Tijdens een vergadering van de Tweede Kamer zei minister Verhagen dat ACTA niet boven Europese of nationale wetgeving gaat. Volgens Eurocommissaris De Gucht is ACTA juist wel bindend. Een groep Europese academici wijst er op dat ACTA verder gaat dan het huidige EU recht, zij roepen op instemming vooralsnog te onthouden

  The saga of the misleadingly named "Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement" has only gotten more ridiculous since I decried it in November. For those of you whose eyes (understandably) glaze over at any mention of multilateral trade agreements, ACTA is an attempt by the United States and dozens of other countries to write new rules to combat counterfeiting of trademarked goods, as its name suggests, and to stop copyright violations as well, a goal left out of its moniker

  Nun werden also sämtliche Verkehrsdaten mitsamt den IP-Adressen aller Benutzer der Google-Tochter YouTube an den US-Medienkonzern Viacom ausgeliefert. Vielleicht kommt jetzt irgendwer schön langsam darauf, dass es zum Beispiel gar nicht gescheit ist, dass gegen 80 Prozent der reichweitenstärksten Websites im deutschen Sprachraum sämtliche Verkehrsdaten ihrer Benutzer via Google-Analytics in die USA weitergeben
